Rest, refocus, recommit.
Jul 08, 2025There’s something powerful about the midpoint of the year.
It’s not about the date or the calendar — it’s about the opportunity.
Six months in. Six months to go.
It’s the perfect time to pause, zoom out, and ask yourself:
“Are the goals I set still the right ones?”
“Am I heading in the direction I want to go?”
If you’re like most competitive handlers, the first half of the year has been full — of training, trialing, juggling priorities, dealing with curveballs, and trying to keep it all moving forward. Some of your goals may have faded into the background. Others might feel outdated. And some may still be calling to you — but you’re not sure how to get there.
That’s where the mid-year mindset reset comes in.
This isn’t about scrapping your plans or starting from scratch.
It’s about re-aligning — getting honest about what’s working, what’s not, and what you want the rest of this year to look like.
Here’s a simple process you can walk through this week:
Step 1: Look back before you look forward
Go find that list of goals you made at the start of the year. (Or, if you didn’t set any, jot down what you think your intentions were.)
Now ask:
- Which ones did I make meaningful progress on?
- Which ones haven’t moved forward — and why?
- Which ones no longer feel important?
Be curious, not critical. This is information, not judgment.
Step 2: Reset your goals
Based on what you just uncovered, decide what deserves your focus now.
You might:
- Shift your goal from a title to a connection-based benchmark
- Update a timeline that no longer makes sense
- Drop a goal that came from pressure, not passion
Resetting your goals doesn’t mean giving up — it means growing wiser.
Step 3: Make it visible
Goals don’t live in your head — they live in your planner, your calendar, and your training plans. If you don’t write them down and schedule them, they’ll fade again.
Get specific. Block time. Track progress. Put them where you’ll see them.
(This is your Dogged Planner’s time to shine.)
Step 4: Use feedback as fuel
Here’s the truth: you’ve already collected a ton of data this year.
Every success, every setback, every almost-Q, every moment you wished had gone differently — they all hold clues. What works? What derails you? What support do you need?
Let that feedback guide your next step, not stop you from taking it.
Inside the Q-Membership, this month’s focus is all about this process: resetting your goals, recommitting to what matters, and building momentum for the rest of the year. If that kind of clarity and support is calling to you, we’d love to have you.
But even if you do this solo, give yourself the gift of intention.
Pause. Reflect. Reset. Then move forward — with purpose.
