About The Q Coach.
Welcome to The Q Coach - where competitive dog handlers come to build stronger mental skills, crush self-doubt, and show up with confidence when it counts.
Dog sports demand more than just training your dog. You've got to train yourself, too - and that's where mindset comes in. Whether you aim for a championship or just want to stop getting in your own way, The Q Coach is here to help you build a performance mindset that matches your ambition.
Through private coaching, online courses, a thriving membership community, and the “Mindset Coaching for Handlers” podcast, I help handlers in agility, obedience, rally, herding, and across all levels of competition tap into the mental side of their performance. From tackling ring nerves to setting better goals and building focus, we train your brain like you train your dog - with intention, consistency, and, yes, a few cookies.
This isn't fluff. It's the same kind of mindset that elite athletes have used for decades. The good news? You don't need to be a pro to benefit from it. You just need to be willing to grow, stay curious, and show up for yourself and your dog.
You already have what it takes - I'm just here to help you access it.

I don’t have all the answers. I make mistakes, have craptastic days, and get mired in fear and self-doubt just like every other competitor. But I am committed to bringing you the best of what I’m living and learning while keeping it real, honest, and hopefully funny.
About Julie
I've been obsessed with the mental game since I was a teenager - way before I ever picked up a leash.
Back then, I was a horse-crazy girl riding in the hunter-jumper ring. I took home my first state championship at 11 and was hooked, not just on the win, but on the work it took to get there. I cried in barns, got thrown in the dirt, and spent my allowance in tack stores. But I also learned about visualization, focus, and resilience. I was determined to figure out what it really took to succeed.
Eventually, I left the horses behind, but the fire to compete - and understand how to get better - never left.
Fast forward a few decades, and I've traded reins for leashes. Today, I run Bernese Mountain Dogs - a breed most people (politely) call "non-traditional" for performance sports. That's fine by me. We're out here proving what's possible when you train smart, trust your dog, and get your mindset right.
My dogs and I have done more than I ever imagined - MACH, PACH, Grand Championship, national invites, podiums, and bunches of letters that follow the names. But we've also had significant injuries, long rehab breaks, and those messy in-between seasons where nothing feels like it's clicking.
That's why I do this work. Because I know what it feels like to want big things for your dog and not know how to get there. I know what it's like to show up for your team, even when it's hard. And I believe your mindset is the secret weapon that can change everything.
This has always been my obsession. And now it's my mission.

Why work with me?
Because I get it.
I know what it's like to show up to the ring with shaking hands and a stomach full of butterflies. I know the mental gymnastics of trying to keep it together when your dog melts down or your carefully planned season suddenly veers off track. I've stood at the in-gate thinking, "Why can't I just get out of my own head?"
I also know what it's like to come back stronger.
To walk into the ring with more clarity, more trust, more ease. To recover from disappointment faster. To enjoy the journey, no matter the outcome.
That's what I want for you.
Yes, I've trained and titled dogs in draft, agility, rally, obedience, conformation, scent work, barn hunt, and more. Yes, I've taken non-traditional breeds all the way to the top. But what I'm most proud of is this: I've helped handlers just like you find their way back to confidence, motivation, and joy.
So if you're tired of feeling stuck, spinning, or like you should be further along by now… let's train your mindset the same way you train your dog: with purpose, with compassion, and with a plan.
You're not broken. You don't need fixing.
You just need support that's as intentional as your training.
Mindset work: because handling is a team sport.
