Congrats on working on your mindset!

goals mindset Dec 19, 2023

I spent the weekend glued to AKC.tv, trying to catch my clients' runs. If you were there, know that my dogs thought I'd unlocked a new level of insanity since I was simultaneously cheering and crying at the TV in between yelling about the livestreaming issues. (I'm complex, okay - ha). I was INVESTED!

All of you reading this have worked to prioritize your mindset this year. Congratulations to all of you! You decided in 2023 that honing your mental game was a crucial aspect of your journey to becoming a better handler. And no matter where you are on that journey, I give you a standing ovation!

I've said this before: "It doesn't get easier; you get better," which is certainly true of a performance mindset! Each time we level up, the game demands another gear from us. This is acutely felt when we ask to improve - the challenges seem to fall from the sky!

You decided to get better this year, and your dog sports probably got a bit (or a lot) uncomfortable as you pushed yourself. Congrats on sticking with it and pushing through. Whether you wanted to improve a handling skill, try a new sport, go to new trials, or work on your mindset, I'm proud of you and all the "invisible" work you put in this year. YAY YOU!

I hope you head into 2024 motivated and determined! But before you get that planner/workbook and start writing it all down, reflect on this year and all that it meant to you. Celebrate the wins and progress, and let any setbacks or disappointments fuel you.

I've got some fun things planned for us in the new year :D And I can't wait to hear all about your wins along the way! Have a wonderful holiday season, and thanks for working on your mindset this year!
